Privacy

Effective Date: May 20, 2025

Hey there, fellow anime enthusiast! Welcome to Anime Analytica. I know what you’re probably thinking: ‘A privacy policy? Seriously?’ I get it – these aren’t usually the most thrilling reads. However, this stuff is important, both for you and for me. Your trust and privacy are a big deal to me as I explore the fantastic worlds of anime. This Privacy Policy explains in the clearest way I can how Anime Analytica collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you hang out on my site. I’ve tried to make it as straightforward as possible.

By using this website, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

1. Who I Am / About Anime Analytica

Anime Analytica is a platform I created, dedicated to the world of anime. My mission is to give anime info on genres, music, tropes, clichés, characters, etc. As a solo operator, I am responsible for the data processing on this site.

You can contact me regarding this privacy policy at: contact@animeanalytica.com

2. Information Anime Analytica Collects

I collect information to provide and improve my services to you. The types of information collected depend on how you interact with Anime Analytica.

a. Information You Provide Directly:

  • Comments and Discussions (Future Feature): Anime Analytica is designed to foster discussion and community. While comment features (which would typically be managed through the WordPress system) are currently disabled, I plan to enable them in the future. Should you choose to participate by leaving comments or engaging in discussions once these features are active, Anime Analytica would collect the information you provide, such as your name (or a pseudonym you choose), email address (which may not be publicly displayed, depending on comment system settings), and the content of your comment. This policy will apply to such data when these features are implemented.
  • Contacting Me: If you contact me directly via email or a potential future contact form, I will collect your name, email address, and any other information you choose to provide in your message.
  • Newsletter Subscriptions (Future Feature): Should I offer a newsletter in the future, I would collect your email address if you choose to subscribe.
  • User Accounts (Future Feature): If I introduce user accounts (potentially managed via WordPress plugins) for features like forums or personalized lists, I would collect information necessary to create and maintain your account, such as a username, password, and email address.

b. Information Collected Automatically:

  • Log Data: Like most websites, the servers used by Anime Analytica (provided by Hostinger) automatically record information (“Log Data”) created by your use of the services. Log Data may include information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location (city-level), and date/time stamps. I use this information to monitor and analyze the use of the website, for technical administration, and to improve Anime Analytica’s functionality and user-friendliness.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: Anime Analytica uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on the service and hold certain information. Cookies are small files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. They are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device.
    • What are Cookies? Tiny text files stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit certain web pages. They help Anime Analytica remember your preferences, understand how you use the site, and improve your experience.
    • How Anime Analytica Uses Cookies:
      • Essential Cookies: Some cookies are necessary for the website to function properly (e.g., WordPress uses cookies for basic operations).
      • Performance and Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics): I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors engage with Anime Analytica. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. I use the information I get from Google Analytics only to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. I do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
      • Functionality Cookies: These may be used to remember choices you make (like language preference) to provide a more personalized experience.
    • Your Choices Regarding Cookies: Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. Please note that if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect the availability and functionality of Anime Analytica. For more information on how to manage cookies, please refer to your browser’s help documentation. I may also implement a cookie consent banner in the future to give you more granular control.
  • Caching: Anime Analytica utilizes caching technologies to improve speed and performance. This website is built on WordPress, which may use caching via plugins, and is hosted on Hostinger, which may also implement server-level caching.
    • Browser Caching: Your web browser may store parts of Anime Analytica (like images and scripts) to make it load faster on subsequent visits. This data is stored on your device.
    • Server Caching: The web servers at Hostinger may also temporarily store versions of web pages to deliver them more efficiently to all users. Caching primarily stores non-personally identifiable website assets.

3. How I Use Your Information

I use the information collected for various purposes, including:

  • To Provide and Maintain Anime Analytica: To operate the website, deliver the content you request, and (in the future) allow you to participate in interactive features like comments.
  • To Improve Anime Analytica: To understand and analyze how you use the website, gather feedback, and enhance user experience.
  • To Communicate With You: To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • To Personalize Your Experience (Future): To remember your settings and preferences.
  • For Security and Fraud Prevention: To monitor for and prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities.
  • To Comply With Legal Obligations: To meet legal requirements or respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

4. Sharing Your Information

I do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. I may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with potential business partners or trusted affiliates for the purposes outlined above. I may share your information with third parties in the following situations:

  • Service Providers: I may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate Anime Analytica’s service (“Service Providers”), to provide the service on my behalf, to perform service-related services (e.g., website hosting, data analysis, email delivery, future comment systems), or to assist me in analyzing how the service is used. These third parties have access to your Personal Information only to perform these tasks on my behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose. Key service providers include:
    • Google Analytics: As described above, for website analytics.
    • Hostinger: Anime Analytica is hosted by Hostinger. Hostinger provides the server infrastructure. You can review Hostinger’s Privacy Policy here: https://www.hostinger.com/privacy-policy. Their terms will apply to the data they process as a hosting provider.
    • WordPress & Associated Plugins: As Anime Analytica is built on WordPress, certain functionalities (like potential future comment systems or contact forms) may be provided by WordPress itself or third-party plugins, which would process data according to their own functions and privacy policies. I will strive to use reputable plugins.
  • Legal Requirements: I may disclose your Personal Information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency), to protect my rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
  • Business Transfers (Future): If Anime Analytica were to be involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your Personal Information may be transferred. I would provide notice before your Personal Information is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention

I will retain your Personal Information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. I will retain and use your Personal Information to the extent necessary to comply with my legal obligations (for example, if I am required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce my legal agreements and policies.

Log Data is generally kept for a shorter period, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of Anime Analytica, or I am legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods. Information provided in comments (should this feature be enabled and used) may be retained indefinitely on the website unless you request its removal.

6. Your Data Rights

Depending on your location and applicable laws (such as GDPR for European residents or CCPA for California residents), you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to:

  • Access: Request access to the personal information I hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Object to Processing: Object to my processing of your personal information.
  • Restrict Processing: Request that I restrict the processing of your personal information.
  • Data Portability: Request a copy of your personal information in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent at any time where I rely on consent to process your personal information (e.g., for cookies or a future newsletter).

To exercise any of these rights, please see the section “How to Access and Control Your Information / Exercising Your Rights” below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority if you believe my processing of your personal information violates applicable law.

7. How to Access and Control Your Information / Exercising Your Rights

I want you to be in control of your information. Here’s how you can exercise your data rights mentioned above:

  • Contact Me: The simplest way to make a request regarding your data (like accessing, correcting, or deleting it) is to email me directly at contact@animeanalytica.com. Please be as specific as possible in your request so I can best assist you. I may need to ask you for further information to verify your identity before processing your request – this is to protect your data!
  • Information You Provide Directly (e.g., Future Comments, Future User Accounts):
    • Access & Correction: If comment features are enabled and you have left comments, or if user accounts are implemented and you have one, you can request a copy of the data you’ve provided, or ask me to correct it.
    • Deletion: You can request the deletion of your comments (if applicable) or future user account. I will remove this information from Anime Analytica’s active systems (e.g., from the WordPress database). Please note that some residual copies may remain in backups (managed by me or Hostinger) for a limited period before being automatically deleted, or where I am required to retain data for legal reasons.
  • Information Collected Automatically:
    • Cookies:
      • Control: You have control over cookies through your web browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
        • See what cookies you’ve got and delete them individually.
        • Block third-party cookies.
        • Block cookies from particular sites.
        • Block all cookies from being set.
        • Delete all cookies when you close your browser.
      • Effect of Deleting/Blocking: If you block or delete cookies, some parts of Anime Analytica might not work as intended. For example, preferences might be lost.
      • My Access: I cannot directly delete cookies stored in your browser. You must do this through your browser settings.
    • Google Analytics:
      • Nature of Data: I use Google Analytics to understand website traffic. This data is often aggregated and pseudonymized (for instance, your IP address may be anonymized). It helps me see trends, like which articles are popular, but generally doesn’t let me identify you personally from within the analytics platform unless you’ve explicitly given me a unique identifier linked to it (which is not my current practice).
      • Opt-Out: You can opt-out of Google Analytics tracking by using Google’s Opt-out Browser Add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
      • Deletion Requests for GA Data: Due to the aggregated and often pseudonymized nature of this data, deleting specific “your” data from Google Analytics is complex. If you have specific concerns, please contact me, and I can explain what’s possible and guide you through Google’s own privacy controls. Google also provides users with ways to manage their data collected by Google services through their Google Account settings.
    • Caching:
      • Browser Cache: Your browser stores parts of websites (like images) to make them load faster. This is called browser cache and is stored on your device. I cannot delete this for you; you can clear your browser’s cache through your browser settings.
      • Server Cache: Anime Analytica uses server-side caching (via Hostinger or WordPress plugins) to improve performance for all users. This means temporary copies of pages might be stored on the server. When content is updated, this cache is typically cleared automatically. If you request deletion of your personal data (like a future comment), and if a cached version of a page still showed it, this server cache would be refreshed in due course or can be manually refreshed by me. This type of cache doesn’t usually store personal information tied directly to individual users in a way that’s separately identifiable for deletion beyond the source data (e.g., the comment itself).
    • Log Data (Server Logs):
      • The web server at Hostinger keeps logs that may include your IP address. These are primarily used for security and troubleshooting. Accessing and deleting specific entries related to an individual user from server logs can be technically challenging and is often managed by Hostinger as the hosting provider. If you have serious concerns, please contact me.
  • Limitations:
    • Please understand that I can only act on data I directly control within Anime Analytica’s WordPress installation and configurations. I cannot delete data held by third parties (unless they are my direct service providers acting on my instructions for data directly related to Anime Analytica’s services to you) or data on your own devices.
    • There might be legal or operational reasons why I must retain certain information, even if you request deletion (e.g., to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce my agreements). I will always inform you if this is the case.
    • I aim to respond to all legitimate requests within one month (or as required by applicable law). If your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests, it may take me longer. If this is the case, I will notify you and keep you updated.

8. Data Security

The security of your data is important to me. I strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, such as using HTTPS for secure communication. Hostinger also provides security features at the server level. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While I strive to protect your Personal Information, I cannot guarantee its absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

Anime Analytica does not knowingly address anyone under the age of 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions like the EEA). I do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 (or the applicable age). If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided me with Personal Information, please contact me. If I become aware that I have collected Personal Information from children without verification of parental consent, I take steps to remove that information from my servers.

Given the nature of anime, some content might appeal to a younger audience. I encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their children’s online activity.

10. Links to Other Websites

Anime Analytica may contain links to other websites that are not operated by me. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. I strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. I have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. I will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page. Significant changes may also be communicated through a notice on Anime Analytica or via email if you have provided one (e.g., for a future newsletter).

12. Contact Me
